Random Cover Orchestra

What is the Random Cover Orchestra?

“RCO is a concept band, its idea is quite simple: all the musicians are conected to the same ipod that is playing songs in random (various type of songs, pop and quite famous songs or unknown not pop songs…) then they have to play a cover of this song in the same time that they hear it. It’s a real-time cover song, not all the participants are musicians and the instruments are various… The audience only hears what the musicians play, not the original song.”

Wow. Every now and again superb absurdity comes along and you can’t ignore it. Trainwreck? Genius?

You’ll have to decide for yourself.

Highlights include a cover of Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons’ classic “Can’t Take My Eye Off Of You” and Journey’s “Oh Sherry”. [I have to insert a quick shout out to me mum here for NOT naming me Sherry; it was either Sherry, Brandy or Danielle] Other artists covered: Danzig, Prince, Yoko Ono, Bonnie Tyler.

If I could go back in time, I’d download the tracks, shuffle ’em up and try to guess which songs are which without first looking at the track listing.

That is the coolest shit ever. I am jealous, very jealous that I didn’t think of it first. Another fun game is to listen to This Is Spinal Tap and try to identify the song they are ripping off/satirizing (Tonite We’re Gonna Rock It = Detroit Rock City)
