UPDATED: bEtsy for Etsy is finally here.

I’ve been waiting for an Etsy plugin for a long, long time and today I finally found one. It’s called bEtsy – not to be confused with Ginger Beard Man’s “Betsy” which is a browser add-on that “changes the extra thumbnail images on an item page so they reload the main image without reloading the whole page”.

So, not that one.

The bEtsy plugin I’m talking about lets you pull your Etsy shop’s RSS feed onto your WordPress sidebar to display what you have for sale. There’s nothing super-fancy about this plugin but it works and it works well. You can choose how many items you want displayed and there are fields to add html styling to your list so you can maintain the look/feel of your blog. The items update automatically as you add and/or sell items.

If there’s a future release for this plugin, I’d love love love to see an option to pick a featured item or two that also pulls in the item’s image. Or, instead of posting text links, a grid of thumbnails would be nice too, similar to flickrRSS.

Thanks to Noelle over at The Little Hedgehog for posting and to her husband Cody for the coding. You guys made my day and I’m sure there are many others who will appreciate this plugin too.

UPDATE: Etsy has also just released their javascript tool, “Etsy Mini” – I have it running on the sidebar right now – see the thumbnails? It’s pretty buggy and I had to fiddle with it to get it from creating giant gaps in my sidebar. I ended up enclosing the javascript inside an unordered list tag for now and that seems to be holding. I’ll keep fiddling …
