Itatu Orphan Care in Malawi

My sister-in-law, Jennifer Douma, is in Malawi this summer opening an orphan care facility and she’s blogging about her experience at itatuorphancare.com.

On the site there’s a donation widget thingamajig – if you feel you can spare a buck or two to help Jennifer setup and buy supplies, she’d appreciate it and so would the kids.

Jennifer has worked out the cost of a few items so far, so you have an idea of how far your donation could go:

  • Bar of soap @ $0.40
  • Spoons @ $0.15 each
  • Bowls @ 0.35 each
  • A bunch of small bananas @ $0.20
  • Notebooks @ $0.10
  • Pencils @$0.10
  • firewood is $20 for a month
  • meat once a week is about $20 a month
