Interview with Gil Reyes, director of Searching for Elliott Smith

Listen to the interview via The Kenny and Eamon Podcast

During the podcast, Gil refers to a great coffee table book by Autumn de Wilde (and refers to her as him, oops!). It’s called “Elliott Smith” and it’s loaded with tons of photographs she took of him over the years, coupled with fifteen conversations with insiders like Jon Brion and Ben Gibbard. It’s great. – totally a bargain at $22.

About the podcast, the interview with Gil is okay – a good primer for someone who doesn’t know anything about Smith’s personal life. I mean nothing – e.g. one of the questions was something to the effect of ‘did Smith have a girlfriend’. So … hopefully the documentary provides more insight.

  1. Gil says:

    No, Lily.
When I said, “he provides insight into their relationship”, the “he” I was referring to was “Jon Brion”. Obviously NOT Autumn. Geez. Nitpickers.:)

to my knowledge no – I believe it’s making the festival circuit this year. no doubt someone will leak it soon – hope Gil sells it online first!

    Hey Gil,

Was wondering if you could send me an email. Would love to talk to you about some photos of Elliott that were taken in 2001.
